Installing Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware, and Removing what it Finds.
NEVER DO A SYSTEM RESTORE to get rid of Malware. All that does is make it more difficult, and in some cases impossible to remove.
(If you already have Malwarebytes installed on your computer, please click the Updates tab and update the program. Then skip down to this section (*****)
Once downloaded, close all programs and Windows on your computer.
Double-click on the icon on your desktop named mbam-setup.exe. This will start the installation of MBAM onto your computer.
When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation. Do not make any changes to default settings and when the program has finished installing, make sure you leave both the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware checked. Then click Finish.
MBAM will now automatically start. Since MBAM will automatically update itself after the install, you can press the OK.
(*****)On the Scanner tab, make sure you choose the Full scan option then click on the Scan button to start scanning your computer.
MBAM will now start scanning your computer for malware. This process can take quite a while, so please be patient. You do not have to stay right with the scan. You can do something else, and occasionally check back to make sure all is okies.
When the scan is finished a message box will appear that it has completed scanning successfully. Click OK >>> click Show Results. (make sure all entries are checked) >> click Remove Selected button to remove all the listed malware. MBAM will now delete all of the files and registry keys. This is very important...YOU MUST remove what MBAM finds or you will have to rescan the computer again to remove what it finds......
Additional note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.
If you should get a message such as this:
"c:\program files\malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll
Unable to register the dll/ocx: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x5"
Click on ignore mbamext.dll
When MBAM has finished removing the malware, it will open the scan log and display it in Notepad. Please post the log on the board.
